The Dangers of Commercial, Denatured Foods and Why You Must Buy Organic to Heal and Avoid Addictive Biochemistry

Commercial farms use millions of tons of pesticides every year in the U.S. alone.  Pesticides are neurotoxic which means they cause damage to brain and nerve cells which disrupts neurological and hormonal systems.  We know that the home of alcoholism is in the neuroendocrine system so anything that disrupts the delicate balance of required neurotransmitters and hormones will produce symptoms that can lead someone into addictive biochemistry and ultimately addiction.

First, I want to dispel the urban legend that organic is more expensive than commercial, denatured foods.  It's simply not true.

Please visit http://www.mercola.com/2005/feb/16/organic_food.htm and read the study that a naturopathic student did on organic versus commercial foods.  She created a one week meal plan for her family of three and did an oz for oz, serving for serving price comparison.  She actually saved $1.22!

Also, what is not taken into account in this article or the study is that organic, whole food diets do not promote insulin resistance.  This means that you won't be experiencing false hunger throughout the day.  False hunger is generated in those suffering insulin resistance because insulin can't deliver glucose from the blood into the cells of the body to provide the energy that fuels the body's many processes.  The brain is the first to bear witness to "perceived" low blood sugar (when in actuality blood sugar is high, it just can't get into the brain cells) because although it only represents about 3% of total body weight, it consumes about 30% of available energy.  When brain fuel goes down, the brain thinks you need more food to boost its fuel source and will cause hunger to prompt you to eat.  Low brain glucose is also a major contributor to the symptoms that presently addicted and former alcohol addicted folks who dive into the refined carb, sugar bowl, and coffee cup experience such as anxiety, depression, nervousness, hyper reactivity, uneasiness, mental / physical fatigue, lack of focus, emotional instability etc. These symptoms are actually the #1 cause of relapse and since AA promotes the use of sugar, refined carbs and coffee to quell alcohol cravings, it becomes easy to understand why their success statistics are so dismal and why "dry-drunk" has become a household word.   Those who do not focus on healing and adopt a whole food, preferably organic diet will continue to suffer their own combination of the above symptoms until they relapse and resume self-medicating these horrific symptoms.

Bottom line: when you eat an organic, whole food styled diet, you will not experience false hunger and you will naturally eat for your energy levels and therefore will consume less food and save even more money.

Below are a few of the many reasons you should practice an organic, whole food diet to heal and sustain addictive biochemistry:

  • In addition to being a strong contributor to addictive biochemistry due to the damage they cause to the neuroendocrine system, neurotoxins in pesticides can lead to cellular DNA damage, ADD, ADHD, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, simply any and all conditions associated with the deterioration and disruption of the neuroendocrine system.

  • Pesticides produce free-radicals which are linked to the development of cancer.

  • The body doesn't recognize the fillers and modified food stuffs that are included in processed foods resulting in cellular waste and unusable "garbage" accumulating in the blood and tissues.

  • Not only does conventional produce have far less nutritional value, but the toxins they come with actually exhaust what nutritional stores a person that eats it may have.

  • Cross contamination - all drugs and pesticides are tested in clinically controlled environments. Environments that we do not live in.

  • Load down the liver- anyone that has been drinking for any length of time should be focused on rebuilding liver health and tissues, not destroying it more.

Also, if you're not eating organic you are getting a large dose of genetically modified (GMO) products in  food supply.  The dangers associated with GMO foods are extremely alarming and even the best of scientists - even the ones that created them can't even begin to comprehend the ultimate impact these foods that are mutating our cells will have on the human race.

What's wrong with Genetic Engineering?
by By Organic Consumers Association

for an in-depth study of genetically modified foods so that you may protect yourself, your family and your future off-spring!

"Genetic engineering is a radical new technology, one that breaks down fundamental genetic barriers -- not only between species, but between humans, animals, and plants. By combining the genes of dissimilar and unrelated species, permanently altering their genetic codes, novel organisms are created that will pass the genetic changes onto their offspring through heredity. Scientists are now snipping, inserting, recombining, rearranging, editing, and programming genetic material. Animal genes and even human genes are being inserted into plants or animals creating unimagined transgenic life forms. For the first time in history, human beings are becoming the architects of life. Bio-engineers will be creating tens of thousands of novel organisms over the next few years. The prospect is frightening. Genetic engineering poses unprecedented ethical and social concerns, as well as serious challenges to the environment, human health, animal welfare, and the future of agriculture."

What's good for you is good for the planet...the more organic foods we buy the more the demand goes down for pesticide drenched and genetically modified foods therefore the earth and nearby animals get a break too.

And remember, disease is always far more expensive than preventative health practices.  And you can't put a price on the quality of life healthy diets provide!

Look at Produce Stickers. Those little stickers on fruit and vegetables contain different PLU codes depending on whether the fruit was conventionally grown, organically grown or genetically modified. The PLU code for conventionally grown fruit consists of four numbers, organically grown fruit has five numbers prefaced by the number nine, and GM fruit has five numbers prefaced by the number eight.

Abstract

Organophosphates are among the most commonly used and most toxic pesticides. They act directly on the nervous system by inhibiting the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. Organophosphates evoke a consistent pattern of physical symptoms. They also have acute psychological and behavioral effects, such as anxiety, depression, and cognitive impairments. Research suggests that moderate levels of acute poisoning may cause persistent problems. Long-term psychological effects of low-level exposure, however, have not been determined satisfactorily. Some research has documented cognitive and emotional deficits due to chronic exposure to organophosphates, but not all studies have found ill effects. To date, psychologists, but not all studies have found ill effects. To date, psychologists have played only a small role in studying the psychological effects of organophosphates, despite the substantial contribution their expertise could make.

Shopping for the Condictive Diet - Breads & Grains

Shopping for a Condictive Diet - Breads

Shopping for the Condictive Diet: Breads & Grains

Breads bring up the Grain issue.  Grains are definitely an issue for one whom has demonstrated addictive biochemistry.  Even whole grains when cooked are simple carb heavy which promotes sugar cravings and addictive biochemistry.  Heavy grain diets are also linked yeast and fungal growth such as Candidas.  Also, grains are considered "filler" foods and do not provide a super nutrient rich meal, so you are filling up on a lower quality food when you could be providing much more food as medicine in your diet.
Having poured gallons of alcohol down your gut for years you can safely bet on having digestive disorders.  Combine that with the typical Standard American Diet (SAD) of refined carbs, processed to death foods, simple sugars and an overload of grains and you've got an iron-clad recipe for digestive disorders.

Typically, the first major symptom is digestive disorders.  These foods simply do not provide the enzymatic fortitude within the microflora of the gut to digest food.  Grains in particular are difficult to digest because they have only recently been introduced into our diet in the last 10,000 years which is nothing compared to the millions of years our cells have been adapting to a grain-free buffet of vitamins, EFA's, minerals, and amino acids.  And actually, it has only been in the last 100 years that grain consumption has become a dangerously major portion of the common diet.  This is why people develop allergies to it.  It is overly consumed and the body has a difficult time digesting it as well as metabolizing and detoxing the many chemicals that come with it care of commercial farming.  These by products build up, get in the way of healthy cell functioning and the body in turn, turns against it and provides symptoms to let  you know it doesn't want it anymore.

Many people are actually allergic to the grains in alcohol and this can actually serve to develop an addiction to alcohol.

Gluten is also an unhealthy component of many grains.  The fact alone that gluten is often used for stamp and envelope glues should scare anyone away.  Gluten is acid forming which throws off the gut's pH and makes it impossible to efficiently digest.  Not digesting well leads to malnutrition and this leads to imbalanced brain chemistry.  Gluten is sticky and gummy and literally lines the walls of the intestines which causes damage and malabsorption of nutrients.  This gumming up of the intestines is also experienced by tissue and blood cells throughout the body.  Cells become clogged and are unable to breath, detoxify- (eliminate poisons from within the cell wall), ingest nutrients, and communicate with other cells.  This sets the stage for many degenerative diseases- and if you follow the increased grain consumption reports, you will see that degenerative diseases have become epidemic with the increase of grain in the American diet.  Sugars and grains are the two most dangerous products when it comes to these diseases and many others.

So, what is the best way to include breads in your diet?  First, make sure you are not allergic.

Definitely steer clear of refined grains which are mucous forming and are glue-like in your intestines.  Refined grains are also a key player in developing neurotransmitter deficiencies and brain chemistry imbalances which can lead to addictive biochemistry.

Definitely avoid commercially farmed grains.  They are drenched in pesticides and many times are genetically modified.  Use organic always!

Avoid gluten containing grains such as wheat, barley, rye, oatmeal, and spelt.  Whole grain rice can be enjoyed occasionally, but rice is acid forming so keep it to a minimum.

The good for you grains that are actually seeds but pass as grains on the plate are millet, quinoa, amaranth and buckwheat.

Sprouted is preferred for many reasons, sprouting actually reduces the acids in grain which protect you from pH imbalances and serve to better digest the grain.

Also, look for seed (pumpkin, sunflower, etc.) breads, they are typically higher in protein and lower in carbs.

No sugar!

No soy!  And this includes soy lecithin which is commonly labeled as "vegetable oil".

A little honey or molasses once you are on the Ark program after the Krispy Kleen Detox is okay.

And remember, do the right thing for your body and you do the right thing for the planet!
